I am at ease in the arms of a woman. Although now, most of my days i spend alone. A thousand miles, from the place i was born. When she wakes me, she takes me.. Ya, when she wakes me, she takes me back home. When she wakes me, she takes me back home
I know most people would see this as a simple love song pining for a lost lover, but I really see these words as metaphor for our spiritual journey, especially the words:
“When she wakes me, she takes me back home.”
To me, 'she' refers to not a lover, but the Beloved Herself, the Expanded Self, the Holy Spirit, the Source Within, the Love of my Life.
In that sense, this is an extremely beautiful, delightful song! Charming!
